Fundraising Campaign Launched for Development of the National Sustainable Agriculture Standard

    Mon, 07/19/2010 - 20:55

(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Madison, Wisconsin - July 16, 2010 - Leonardo Academy has launched a fundraising campaign to support the continued development of the American National Standard for Sustainable Agriculture. The goal of the standard is to provide guidance for continuous improvement in sustainable agriculture practices, as well as a basis for clear communication between buyers and sellers on the sustainability profile of agricultural products. The initial phase of the standard development process focuses on the production of agricultural goods within the farm gate. Additional components of the agricultural supply chain will be addressed in subsequent modules. Read more...

Ethanol rivals petroleum for gulf killing champ

    Tue, 07/06/2010 - 17:50

It's a slow crisis at every turn

While the BP oil spill has been labeled the worst environmental catastrophe in recent U.S. history, a biofuel is contributing to a Gulf of Mexico "dead zone" the size of New Jersey that scientists say could be every bit as harmful to the gulf.

Fair Food Fight Recipe: Ecuadorian Chupe

    Wed, 06/30/2010 - 13:48

Chupes are coastal Ecuadorian soups that are thickened with potatoes. They're usually made with milk, but chicken stock works just fine, too.

Fair Food Fight Recipe: Strawberry Granita

    Fri, 06/25/2010 - 19:06

    strawberries

Strawberries are with us for so short a time, I try to build recipes around them as much as I can. This weekend is going to be a big strawberry weekend at the market for me, I can just feel it.

And Strawberry Granita is SUCH an easy and delicious Italian iced desert. Chilly and sweet on a humid summer day. I think you crop mob kids should consider making some after a hot day's work!

Fair Food Fight Recipe: Sudanese Liver

    Thu, 06/24/2010 - 12:14

I recommend liver (organic or naturally raised, of course) for my clients, and I include liver recipes in my online meal planning service, Dinner with Jennette.  As a result, I get questions about liver – mostly along the lines of “why on earth are you using liver?”  - so I thought a bit of explanation might be nice. Fair Food Fight Recipe: Jamaican Jerk Chicken

    Thu, 06/24/2010 - 01:51

This sweet and spicy chicken can be marinated up to a day in advance. Note: If you’re making it in advance and you use coconut oil, it will harden in the refrigerator, but that’s fine. You can omit the cayenne if you don’t like things hot or add more if you do!

    Jamaican Jerk Chicken

    (Makes 4 servings)

2-3 lbs. bone-in chicken, in pieces – breast pieces should be cut in half

****note that the Colbert Report is going to be a lauch pad for the campaign on the July 8th show. Sheez, first DEVO makes there comeback kick-off on Colbert - now UFW - that dude is on fire!
